Lingard Out From Man United Core Squad, Diallo Set To Be Included

Jesse Lingard is unlikely to appear for Man United again after being cut from the club’s core squad.

The Englishman has only featured in domestic cup competitions for the Red Devils this season, but due to in-form squad players and the emergence of new talents, he could end up just watching his teammates from the stands for the second-half of the season if he fails to join a new club in the last week of the January window.

The 30-year-old is linked with a loan move to Sheffield United, as Chris Wilder is in search for an inspiring creative addition in order to keep the Blades in the Premier League, but M.E.N claims he’s ‘hanging tight’ and hoping for a more enticing offer.

Instead of Lingard, new signing Amad Diallo could become a regular feature in cup games under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, after becoming the 23rd member of the first-team squad.

The 18-year-old is already making a ‘difference’ in training, and also trained with the first-team players ahead of Sunday’s FA Cup tie against Liverpool.

Man United’s next Premier League match is against Sheffield United on Wednesday, and having played Fulham in mid-week, the clash against a tired Liverpool team at Old Trafford seems a very welcome occasion to rest the likes of Edinson Cavani and Anthony Martial, whilst awarding a long-awaited debut to the Ivorian forward.

Similar to Lingard, another playmaker – Donny van de Beek, has struggled to get selected ahead of Bruno Fernandes, and would be anticipating another opportunity this weekend, should Solskjaer decide to rest the Portuguese superstar.
