Man Utd Star: If I would have the pace of Rashford, I would be a Ballon d’Or winner
Bruno Fernandes has been Man Utd’s new talisman ever since he signed last winter and undeniably one of the best midfielders in the Premier League. This season alone the Portuguese international has tallied up 28 goals and 17 assists across all competitions.
Those are some incredible numbers for a midfielder, and to have made such an impact immediately after making the switch is something very impressive. It is no surprise that there are sections of football fans that believe he is a genuine contender for the Ballon d’Or this time around – after all, 45 goal involvements from midfield is no joke.
However, the playmaker believes he would have already won the prestigious award but was held back by his lack of pace. The former Sporting Lisbon captain revealed that not being fast as someone like his teammate Rashford is the reason he’s yet to get his hands on the Ballon d’Or trophy.
“I think I’m not the slowest player in the world but if I would have the pace of Rashy [Rashford], honestly, I would be a Ballon d’Or [winner] already,” insisted the midfielder [via MUTV].
“With the pace he has, oh my God, he’s unbelievable.”
The Englishman is undeniably a rapid player and it is one of his best attributes. It is no surprise that there are players who are in a way envious of it.
Nevertheless, the 26-year-old never said that his shortcoming will hold him back forever, only that it is the only reason he hasn’t achieved the award ‘already.’
The way things have been going for him at Old Trafford, winning the Ballon d’Or is far from an outrageous possibility.
