Cristiano Ronaldo rescued a crucial win for Manchester United with a stoppage time goal against Villarreal.

The five-time Champions League winner loves the competition. Even before his first kick of the game, Ronaldo set a record by surpassing his former Real Madrid teammate Iker Casillas to become the all-time leader in Champions League appearances with 178.

And with his final kick of the game, in the 95th minute, he scored a winner. He cushioned down Fred’s cross for Jesse Lingard before receiving the ball back to force home from a tight angle on the right.

Mr. Champions League took his shirt off, as he ran in front of the Stretford End, with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer pumping fists to celebrate a much-needed win against Unai Emery’s men. Viva Ronaldo!

The Red Devils, after initially being put on the back foot at their own home, stepped up quickly to cancel out Villarreal’s opener.

Similar to the night in Gdansk, United were a better team after the equaliser, but this time they managed to find a goal to seal the game. Ronaldo, with his 136th Champions League goal, proved to be the difference tonight.
