Man Utd Star Expected To Leave In January If Situation Continues With Solskjaer As Manager
Donny van de Beek could depart Manchester United in January should his situation remain the same.
The Dutchman has not managed to land a starting role in Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side and is struggling to get minutes under his belt. So far this season, van de Beek has failed to amass more than 160 minutes on the pitch across all competitions.
It is understandable why any player would be frustrated at being put under such conditions. According to Fabrizio Romano, the former Ajax man’s frustrations have grown a lot and he is on the verge of giving up. The Netherlands international reportedly wants to leave during the winter transfer window if things don’t change for him.
The midfielder is said to be very fond of the United fans, but he is not exactly happy with his current predicament. Romano revealed that Solskjaer does not trust the playmaker yet, which could be why fans haven’t seen him in action too much.
Moreover, it is quite difficult to get into a midfield that consists of Bruno Fernandes and Paul Pogba. Neither are small names that can be dropped just to accommodate another name. Further, the only way to achieve a midfield with all three present would be to deploy a team with no defensive midfielders, which would be far from ideal against most Premier League teams.
In retrospect, the 24-year-old seems like an unnecessary signing, especially when his price tag is considered. The Red Devils should have gone for a cheaper option if their intention was to secure a backup in midfield or made their terms clear to the attacking midfielder before putting pen to paper.
At this point, things cannot be turned back, and it seems like an exit is inevitable in January or at least next summer.
