Man United Star Tells Rangnick He Wants To Leave But No Club Is Interested In Signing Him
Ralf Rangnick has confirmed Anthony Martial has expressed his desire to leave, but no club has contacted Man United.
Philippe Lamboley, Martial’s agent, went public with his client’s desire to leave Old Trafford earlier this month. The interim boss refused to react to Lamboley’s comments, demanding the Frenchman to instead inform his wish directly to the board or to him.
Martial, intent on leaving, has done exactly that, explaining to Rangnick his decision to quit United, as he feels ‘it is the right time for a change’ after seven years at the club.
As the January transfer window approaches, his exit from United has never seemed more certain. However, there have been no offers for Martial as yet.
“I told him listen, as long as there is no club showing interest in him – and it should not only be in the interest of the player it should also be in the interest of the club – so far, as far as I know, there has been no offer from any other club and as long as this is the case he will stay,” Rangnick said ahead of his side’s clash against Newcastle.
The Red Devils are unlikely to allow him to leave for a bargain fee, as the 26-year-old is contracted to the club until 2024, while his high salary means even a loan deal is tough to afford for many clubs.
The likes of Barcelona and Sevilla are looking for a talisman, and Martial, who has scored 79 goals in 268 appearances at United, has the potential to lead their frontline. But any suitor and the player himself will have to make significant financial sacrifices to engineer his departure in the coming weeks.
