Erling Haaland Agrees To Join Manchester City – Will Earn More Than Cristiano Ronaldo
Manchester City have managed to convince Erling Haaland to sign for them ahead of Real Madrid and Barcelona.
The two La Liga giants were in the running for the Norway international, but City have been the most determined side for his signature.
Barcelona’s financial woes prevented them from meeting Haaland’s demands, while Madrid remain keen on securing Kylian Mbappe’s services. Karim Benzema’s current form has also lessened the immediate need for a new centre-forward in the Spanish capital.
Meanwhile, Pep Guardiola’s side, who missed out on Harry Kane last summer, have been looking for Sergio Aguero’s replacement for a long time. Gabriel Jesus was once viewed as the Argentine’s successor, but now the likes of Bernardo Silva and Raheem Sterling are preferred to lead City’s attack from the middle instead of the Brazilian.
As per the Daily Mail, City have agreed terms with the Norwegian’s representatives.
A ‘suitable’ financial package – which would make the 21-year-old the Premier League’s highest-paid player – has been decided between the two parties. He will overtake Cristiano Ronaldo as well as City’s most prized asset Kevin De Bruyne by penning a five-year contract with a salary in access of £500,000-a-week.
City’s next task is to trigger Haaland’s £63m release clause at Borussia Dortmund. Barring any late twist, his transfer should be sealed in the next week or so.
