Ten Hag’s Priority Target Confirms He Is ‘Heading To Manchester’
Lisandro Martinez is on his way to Manchester to become a new Red Devil.
Manchester United have agreed a £46m fee with Ajax to sign the Argentine centre-back. Erik ten Hag was determined for his new club to bring Martinez to Carrington from Amsterdam.
United have been in the market for a new left-footed centre-back since Ole Gunnar Solskjaer was in charge, and even explored the opportunity to sign Pau Torres from Villarreal. The arrival of Ten Hag has now led the club’s hierarchy to make a move for the 24-year-old this summer.
Martinez rejected Arsenal’s approach to reunite with his former boss. As per the Telegraph, he will sign a five-year contract worth just over £120,000 a week.
United announced the arrival of Christian Eriksen on Friday, and are expected to complete the transfer of Martinez on Saturday.
Interestingly, the aggressive defender, who was Ajax’s player of the season in 2021-22, has already confirmed his next destination on his Instagram story.
He re-shared a post from his agent, Christian Bragarnik, who posted a photo of himself and Martinez on a plane. Bragarnik added a caption that read: ‘Rumbo a Manchester’ which translates as ‘Heading to Manchester’.

As per Fabrizio Romano, Ten Hag considers Martinez as a priority target. As such, the Dutch coach would be delighted to see United getting the deal over the line despite Ajax’s reluctance to sell their key player.
