Guardiola Bans Star Midfielder From Man City Training Ground

Manchester City’s new boss Pep Guardiola has banished star midfielder Samir Nasri from the club’s training ground.

The Spanish tactician – who was announced as Manuel Pellegrini’s successor at the helm of Manchester City back in February – took over the English club last month. He met with the City players only a few weeks ago, but it looks like the decorated manager has already begun imposing his strict methods and disciplined regime on the team.

According to reports, Pep has already disallowed overweight players to train with the rest of the team, and one of the first players to suffer the Spaniard’s wrath at Manchester City is none other than Samir Nasri, who has been banned from the training ground until he sheds some weight.

There are also reports of Guardiola disallowing his players from having dinner with their partners after the games, whilst also restricting them from eating pizzas in the dressing rooms.

City defender Gaël Clichy gave inside details about Guardiola’s new methods, in an interview with the Daily Mail.

The 31-year-old full-back revealed: “You often hear managers say being healthy is really important. With him, if your weight is too high, you’re not training with the team. That’s the first thing.

“You can hear it a lot, but for my part, it’s the first time any manager has really done it. So we have a few players who are not training with the team yet. You have to know that if your weight is 60 kilos and you are on 70 kilos, then you cannot play football because you’re going to get injured and get your team in trouble. That’s important.

“He cut out some juice and, of course, pizza and all the heavy food is not allowed. Some people think that’s normal, but in truth, it’s not always like this. I know because I’ve been playing football for a long time. It’s really refreshing and very exciting.”
