Bayern Munich appear open to selling Matthijs de Ligt to Manchester United in a cut-price deal.

Manchester United’s priority target for the centre-back position is Jarrad Branthwaite. However, Everton have shown little desire to negotiate for their defensive talent, who was one of their most important players last season.

The Merseyside outfit have already turned down United’s offer thought to be in the region of £40 million. Everton are hoping to bag as much as £70m for the English central defender.

However, the Red Devils are not expected to get anywhere near to meeting that price-tag and are more likely to shift their focus to alternatives.
