Theo Hernandez Undergoes A Successful Medical At Real Madrid
The long-held pact between Atletico Madrid and Real Madrid, to not poach each others players directly, has been sensationally broken as Theo Hernandez finalizes a transfer across the city.
The loaned out Atletico Madrid left-back has agreed a move to city rivals Real Madrid, claims AS. It is being reported that the 19-year-old has signed a five-year contract with Los Blancos, after successfully undergoing a medical at Sanitas La Moraleja Clinic in Madrid.
Barcelona were in constant talks with the promising full-back, but the French prospect chose Real Madrid, who made an offer similar to Barcelona’s. The youngster will earn a handsome salary of €3.5 million to begin with, and it will rise as his contract progresses year by year.
The transfer marks the breaking of one of the most recognized pacts between football clubs. Real Madrid and Atletico Madrid have had an agreement, historically, that prevented both the clubs from signing players in between them.
Real Madrid will have to buy out the youngster as Atletico Madrid will not sell, understandably so, to their inter-city arch-rivals. Theo has a buy-out clause of €24 million in his current contract, and the total transfer fee involved is expected to rise above €30 million.
Hernandez, who has been playing at Alaves on loan this season, has impressed many football clubs across Europe. The attacking full-back has already claimed 3 assists and a goal.
The signing of Theo Hernandez will also mean that Fabio Coentrao will finally be offloaded by Real Madrid in the upcoming summer transfer window.
