Manchester United 1-1 Celta Vigo: Player Ratings

Manchester United emerged aggregate 2-1 winners over Spanish opponents Celta Vigo in a two-legged semi final in the Europa league earlier tonight, and despite another home draw and a red card for Eric Bailly, the Reds will be happy about their progress to the final.

Here are the player ratings from the second leg played under the lights at Old Trafford:

Manchester United

Sergio Romero – 7
Was comfortable with catching the ball and punching it mid air during set pieces. Repaid the faith his manager put in him and certainly is a contender to play the final.

Antonio Valencia – 7
Captain for the day and despite losing his cool towards the end, was at par with Sisto’s pace and had a good battle with the opposition winger.

Eric Bailly – 5
Was rock solid and calm as usual until a moment of madness saw him receive a red card and put his team in a spot of bother for the last 10 minutes, will miss the final due to suspension.

Daley Blind – 6
Started the game gingerly and was not at his convincing best throughout.

Matteo Darmian – 6
A regular solid decent shift in defence but clearly proves that United need a natural left back in the position for better results.

Ander Herrera – 7
Calm in possession and quick to intercept and tackle without the ball, the Spaniard yet again put in a fine display of underrated brilliance in midfield.

Paul Pogba – 7
Slowly growing into his reputation of being a showman in the middle of the park. Wonderful passing and strength on the ball and a couple moments of jaw dropping skill were on display tonight.

Marouane Fellaini – 8
A bullet header of a goal which secured progress through the final and a promising display of good quality football from the Belgian.

Henrikh Mkhitaryan – 8
Wonderful showcasing of smooth dribbling, quick passing and speedy runs in the Armenian’s game tonight.

Jesse Lingard – 7
Provided the space and fluidity United needed in attack.

Marcus Rashford – 7

Ran himself towards another stellar performance which included pace, chances, and skills galore.

Celta Vigo

Alvarez – 5
Could be blamed for Fellaini’s opener, but produced a couple decent saves otherwise.

Mallo – 6
Not the strongest display, limited in attacking shift.

Jonny – 6
Had a tough but decent day against a pacey United front three.

Cabral – 6
Similar to his partners in defence with shaky moments.

Roncaglia – 5
Scored the goal to start a comeback but let his team down and out after receiving a late and stupid red card.

Radoja – 5
Lacked creativity and precision at times when most needed.

Hernandez – 6
Showed good range in passing, but not enough to terrorise Romero in goal.

Aspas – 6
Not his best night and clearly did not have his shooting boots on.

Wass  – 5
Missed a golden opportunity with a diving header in the first half. Did not reappear for the second forty five.

Sisto – 7
Probably the star performer for his team today. Gave Valencia a tiring day and kept firing crosses into the box which sadly produced no result.

Guidetti -4
Offered barely anything on the pitch today and missed an absolute peach of a chance with the last touch of the game.
