Heartbreak In Store For Wayne Rooney As Everton Chiefs Not Ready To Gamble On Him

Wayne Rooney could miss out on a return to the Merseyside, as Everton boss Ronald Koeman and the club hierarchy are unable to reach an agreement on the decorated striker.
The Manchester United skipper has failed to establish himself in the first team under Jose Mourinho, and that, along with certain injuries at crucial times, saw him lose out on a regular place in the squad. And with the Portuguese looking to add further quality to his attack, it is hard to see Rooney stay with the club for another season.
The forward has been linked with a move to the MLS and a couple of Chinese Super League clubs, but Rooney is reportedly interested in moving back to his boyhood club Everton.
The Englishman made a name for himself at Goodison Park before making the stellar move to Manchester United. Since the switch, he has turned into the all-time top goalscorer for the Premier League giants, but is now being labelled as surplus to requirements at Old Trafford.
Rooney looks set to head out the exit door at United, but the Mirror claims that the veteran could now be facing the heartbreak of missing out on an emotional return to Everton.

The report states that Everton chairman Bill Kenwright and manager Ronald Koeman are interested in getting him back to the Goodison Park to help them next season, and also in the future. They want the English skipper to act as a mentor to the youngsters at the club.
However, billionaire owner Farhad Moshiri and his advisors are not really interested in spending big on the 31-year-old, who hardly has any resale value. Furthermore, Rooney could cost Everton £21m if he accepted a three-year contract on £150,000-a-week wages.
