Only One Club Interested In Real Madrid Striker
Manchester United have turned their attention towards Alvaro Morata after their former top target, Antoine Griezmann, confirmed his stay at Atletico Madrid.
The Real Madrid striker’s future has been uncertain from some time now, and after declining any rumours of a summer return to Italy, with AC Milan or Internazionale, Manchester United are the ‘only club’ left that remain interested in his signature.
A source close to Real also confirmed that Jose Mourinho’s side are the only current interested party for the striker’s services this summer.
Morata has been kept as a backup for club’s main striker, Karim Benzema, throughout Los Blancos’ campaign, and the Spaniard just featured for five minutes in Saturday’s Champions League final win when he came on as a late substitute for Toni Kroos.
European giants Chelsea and Paris Saint-Germain have also been linked to the former Juventus striker. However, the 24-year-old recently stated that he’s happy in Spain, which may have ended the Red Devils’ chances of signing him in the coming months.
As reported by The Sun, Morata said: “Milan? No, I certainly won’t be in Italy, I want to continue here and it’s difficult. I can only tell you what I read in the papers, I know nothing else, I like Italy, but I am happy here. Madrid is my team and my city.”
United’s search for a replacement of Zlatan Ibrahimovic may have become even more difficult as Morata looks to stay put, but a final decision on Morata’s future is yet to be made.
