According to reports in Italian Publication Corriere Dello Sport, Ivan Perisic has made his decision to leave completely clear to Inter Milan.

The talented winger has been a long-term target for the Red Devils, and the report claims that Ed Woodward has already tabled a €40 million bid for Perisic, but Inter seem to be holding out for another €10 million as they don’t want to let one of their star players leave for cheap.

However, United are aware that Inter need to raise €30m before the 30th of June in order to comply with Financial Fair Play regulations.

The Serie A giants might have endured a frustrating 2016-17 season, but Perisic was a silver lining, as he netted 11 goals and registered 10 assists in 42 appearances across all competitions.

Considering his exploits, he has been chased by Manchester United for many months, and in fact, Jose Mourinho even travelled to Croatia during the International break in March to have a meeting with transfer guru Predrag Mijatovic in Zagreb, to discuss a deal for the former Wolfsburg man.

Despite United’s continuous interest, Inter Milan’s new manager, Luciano Spalletti, was very keen on retaining Perisic, who is contracted until 2020.

However, the 58-year-old’s attempt to keep the forward has miserably failed, and Spalletti has publicly confirmed that he will not convince the attacker to prolong his stay at San Siro anymore.

Spalletti stated: “We don’t need to convince anyone. It is they who needs to convince me they can stay at Inter. If a player doesn’t share our enthusiasm, it is better he go somewhere he feels he can do his job better.”

Inter are offering Perisic an annual wage of €3m-a-year, but United have promised to double his wage if he decides to leave the Italian club. Therefore, the Croatian would get an annual wage of €6m if he signs for the Premier League giants.
