James Rodriguez Agrees Terms With Manchester United

According to reports from Spain, James Rodriguez has accepted terms from Manchester United to move to Old Trafford this summer.

After being benched often by Real Madrid manager Zinedine Zidane, the midfielder was strongly rumoured to be seeking a move away from Los Blancos, in search for a permanent spot in the first team.

Manchester United were among the many clubs who had been keeping a close eye on the player, and are now most expected to bring him to their club. The interest especially rose when Rooney’s position at Old Trafford was under question, making James a viable replacement in case the English Captain chooses to leave United.

Chelsea were yet another Premier League team trying to bring in the Colombian international from Real Madrid, but the deal fell through and failed to materialize.

He belongs among the list of highest successful transfer bids for a player, as he moved to Real Madrid from Monaco for £60 million just 3 years ago. His fantastic performance in the 2014 World Cup for Colombia, along with winning the Golden Boot in the tournament, attracted Real Madrid president Perez to bring the South American to Madrid.

But now, according to the Spanish outlet Diario Gol, the 25-year-old has accepted the terms United have put forward, and only the clubs need to come to an agreement for the move to take place.

Unfortunately for United fans, it might take some time, as the Premier League club’s hierarchy is understood to be unhappy with Real Madrid’s asking price of £62 million, as the La Liga giants try to get back the money they spent on the player 3 years ago.

But with a lack of continuous playing time, James’s value has only depreciated in the past year, and Manchester United would most likely be trying to get a better deal for the player.

It’s not just English clubs though, as AC Milan are also reported to be strongly interested in the playmaker. They have been busy this summer, having already completed two transfers in Franck Kessie and Ricardo Rodriguez. They would also come into a huge amount of cash if the Donnarumma move does pan out, enabling them to spend higher.
