Neymar’s Barcelona Release Clause Surges

The release clause of Barcelona superstar Neymar has been increased by the club this summer, amid speculation of the Brazilian making a switch to English club Manchester United.

Neymar has been an integral part of the Barca team in recent years, and has delivered for his side consistently. His association with football legend Lionel Messi and Uruguay star Luis Suárez upfront for the Catalans has been a mouthwatering visualization in Europe’s top flight.

The 25-year-old signed a new contract with the Spanish giants last October, and it made his release clause stand at a staggering £175m. However, as per the contract negotiated, each summer will see that clause rise slightly higher by £20m, making his new and current release clause stand at a whopping £195m.

Reports have been linking Neymar with a move to Old Trafford to unite with manager Jose Mourinho. The Portuguese boss was reported to have asked Ed Woodward to sign the Brazilian sensation instead of Cristiano Ronaldo.

The Real Madrid star is said to be unhappy in the Spanish capital, after being accused of tax fraud by the authorities. The Portuguese was since being touted to return to Manchester, but Mourinho reportedly prefers Neymar over Ronaldo due to his age and marketability.

However, it is unlikely that Barcelona will allow their prized asset to leave, despite any club willing to meet his release clause. They view the Brazilian skipper as a vital force, and wouldn’t want to part ways with him at this stage.
