Twitter Erupts As Michael Owen Says He Isn’t Convinced Of Lukaku’s Abilities

Michael Owen just loves to find a way to get himself caught up on the wrong side of the Twitteratis, doesn’t he? Rarely has there ever been a time when the former Liverpool and Manchester United man has been allowed to have an opinion without getting absolutely lambasted for it.

Now, Owen has managed to find himself in the spotlight yet again, for another controversial tweet that has drawn a huge backlash on his Twitter page.

‘Is the Lukaku deal done yet? He’s still a player I’m not 100% convinced by but he bangs in the goals. At 75m is it good business all round?’ was what Owen tweeted out, referencing the imminent transfer of Romelu Lukaku to Man United, after news broke that Everton had reached an agreement with the Old Trafford outfit to sell the striker for a fee of £75m.

However, his tweet was not received well by Everton and United fans, and as always, the insults came pouring in.

Lukaku has been at the center of a transfer saga that has gone on since the end of last season, when he came out in public and declared that he had no interest in signing another contract with Everton.

Since then, he has been tracked by Chelsea and United, and while he was initially inclined on a move back to Stamford Bridge, the Red Devils have snuck in and stole a march on the transfer with a bid too good to turn down.

The Belgian has apparently gone AWOL from Everton training, and is now in LA, where he is training with his soon-to-be-teammate Paul Pogba.
