Manchester United Scout Renato Sanches After Reaching Initial Agreement With Benfica
Manchester United have reached an agreement with Benfica to sign midfielder Renato Sanches, according to Portuguese newspaper Record.
According to the report, the deal reached between United and Benfica for the 18-year old midfielder is worth €60m, out of which €40m is guaranteed, and the remaining €20m is in bonuses.

However, the report also states that Benfica president Luís Filipe Vieira wants Sanches’ sale to eclipse that of Axel Witsel’s – in which the Belgian moved from Benfica to Zenit for €40m – and become the record transfer in his club’s history. The president is therefore demanding the initial €40m to be higher, and the subsequent €20m lower.
More fuel to the fire was added to this speculation on Friday, when Manchester United scouts were present in Portugal to watch Renato Sanches, as the Portuguese National Team faced off against Bulgaria, according to A Bola.
The match against Bulgaria was Sanches’ first international appearance, after getting called up thanks to his consistently stellar performances in Benfica’s midfield, spurring his side to the top of the Portuguese Liga table.
