Netherlands Desire Louis van Gaal As Their Technical Director

Louis van Gaal is set to be offered an escape route from Old Trafford by the Dutch Football Association (KNVB).

The Dutchman’s future is uncertain at the United helm, as the Red Devils sit sixth with eight games to go in the Premier League, and their Europa League exit at the hands of Liverpool means the side will have to face domestic challenge for Champions League qualification.

It is also being believed that Jose Mourinho has already reached a gentleman’s agreement with the United board to replace Louis van Gaal this summer.

However, according to the Independent, there’s already a new job lined up for Louis van Gaal in Netherlands.

He is being targeted by the Dutch football association to take up the technical director role of their new football centre of excellence, which is due to be opened this summer.

With the Oranje failing to qualify for Euro 2016, they will now be fully focused on ensuring that they don’t allow the same disaster to repeat itself in qualification for the 2018 World Cup.

The 64-year-old took the Netherlands to the semi-finals of the 2014 World Cup as manager, but since then, his country has suffered, after failing to qualify for the Euro 2016 despite the competition being expanded to 24 teams.

Current Netherlands’ manager Danny Blind is big admirer of Louis van Gaal.

“With Van Gaal I could achieve a lot,” said Blind, who was his assistant at the World Cup in 2014.
