Jose Mourinho has signed a £15million worth pre-contract agreement with Manchester United, according to El Pais.
According to this pre-contract, if Manchester United do not finalize the deal with Mourinho by May 1, the club will have to pay £5m to the former Chelsea manager. Moreover, if the final deal still hasn’t been confirmed by June 1, the club will have to pay the 53-year-old Portuguese a further £10m.
This pre-contract was signed due to Sir Bobby Charlton and Sir Alex Ferguson still being uncertain over appointing the ‘Special One’.
However, United CEO Ed Woodward is believed to be keen to bring Mourinho to the Theatre of Dreams, to replace the under-performing Louis van Gaal.
The Dutchman’s Red Devils were knocked out of the Europa League thanks to their arch-rivals Liverpool this week, and a defeat against their local rivals Manchester City this Sunday may entirely shut down all their hopes of qualifying for next season’s Champions League.
