After a long transfer saga, things look bright for Manchester United, as PSG full-back Serge Aurier has agreed a five-year deal with the English giants, as reported by Goal.

Currently the third choice for the position at PSG after being dwarfed by new arrival Dani Alves as well as Thomas Meunier, the young Ivory Coast international’s departure from France has been imminent, despite having impressed since penning down a permanent deal just two seasons ago after a fruitful loan spell from Toulouse.

However, a fee hasn’t yet been agreed between the Ligue 1 giants and the Red Devils, owing to a pending appeal case regarding a brawl with a policeman that the 24-year-old was found guilty of. The proceedings in question have been looming over the potential deal which has been at work for days.

Jose Mourinho will be delighted to secure the services of the versatile full-back, who  can very well feature on the left flank, after a lackluster display by Matteo Darmian who featured in the position during the Red Devils’ UEFA Super Cup defeat to Real Madrid. The Italian was visibly struggling to cope up with the challenges that the back four were met with.

Further, the potential link up with Antonio Valencia and Aurier manning the flanks for United is promising to consider. The Manchester-based club has relied on its wing-backs to set up stellar balls for their forwards for several seasons, and it remains a tactic that has worked brilliantly for them.

With PSG eager to ease the expenses that their wage bills will provide them following the world record transfer of Neymar, the deal can be considered to be more or less complete. All United have to ensure is that the player’s work permit gets approved before they can introduce their fourth summer signing to the Old Trafford faithful.
