Stoke City became the first side this weekend that Manchester United failed to beat in the new Premier League season so far. Not only that, the Potters also were the first team to beat David De Gea in goal this campaign.

While the Red Devils did manage to score twice themselves, it was Cameroonian international striker Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting’s brace that helped Mark Hughes’ side earn a valuable point.

Mourinho’s men now prepare for their Champions League return, as they welcome Basel to Old Trafford on Tuesday night. With Eric Bailly and Phil Jones unavailable for the midweek clash, it is no surprise that Shaqiri has come out claiming that United’s defence is a weakness.

The Stoke winger and former Basel man was part of a recent interview with Swiss paper Blick, and he might have given some insight on how the Premier League giants can be beaten.

The winger said: “If you play quickly and bravely, their defenders will have problems. At the back, Manchester are vulnerable.”

While these statements might come as valuable advice for the Swiss champions, beating a well set-up Manchester United on their own home turf might not be the easiest thing to do.

The Red Devils’ fans have been waiting for glittering European nights to return to the Theatre of Dreams, and come Tuesday night, the occasion and the performances will be a spectacle to witness.
