Rooney To Serve A 2-Year Driving Ban Following Drink Driving Case

Everton striker Wayne Rooney has been handed a 2-year driving ban after pleading guilty in his drink driving case.
Rooney was recently stopped by local police under the suspicion of drink driving.
When halted by the police, the breathalyzer showed that Rooney had 104 microgrammes in 100 millilitres of breath, which is higher than the acceptable 35 microgrammes per 100 millilitres of breath.
Other than the driving ban, the court has also handed the former English captain 12 month community order and 100 hours of unpaid work. Rooney’s lawyers requested Stockport Magistrates’ Court to consider removing the community service order, as the player does a lot of ‘charitable work,’ but the court denied the request.
In an official statement on this topic, Rooney stated: “Following today’s court hearing I want to publicly apologise for my unforgivable lack of judgement in driving while over the legal limit. It was completely wrong. I have already said sorry to my family, my manager and chairman and everyone else at Everton FC.
“Now I want to apologise to all the fans and everyone else who has followed and supported me throughout my career. Of course I accept the sentence of the court and hope that I can make some amends through my community service.”
