Man City Star Benjamin Mendy To Fly To Barcelona To Visit Knee Specialist

Manchester City’s brand new summer signing, Benjamin Mendy, is flying to Spain in order to get some tests done on his knee following an injury, as per reports.
Mendy moved to the Etihad this summer from Monaco in a mega £52 million transfer, but he missed the start of the season with a thigh strain. Since his return to the pitch, however, the Frenchman has been nothing less than phenomenal, and his side has been on a rampage, scoring 20 goals without conceding.
But now, the France international’s blistering run has been cut short, after he became victim of a horrendous tackle from Andros Townsend in City’s Premier League clash against Crystal Palace last weekend. Mendy limped off in the 29th minute of the game, which the Citizens won 5-0, and his knee has swollen significantly since.
As per BBC Sport, the 23-year-old could be out for a longer duration than initially thought. City’s medical staff, at first, had concluded the condition to be an ‘impact’ injury, but the tests were inconclusive. As a result, the Frenchman will now be flying to Barcelona to have his knee tested, in order to see if there has been any ligament damage.

It was reported that Mendy will visit renowned specialist, Dr. Ramon Cugat, to confirm the extent of his knee injury. Dr. Cugat has treated other City stars in the past as well, including the likes of Vincent Kompany, Ilkay Gundogan, and Kevin De Bruyne.
Manager Pep Guardiola would be praying that nothing serious happens to his only recognized left-back, as a severe injury would leave the Spanish tactician in a major selection dilemma. If the injury is diagnosed to be a serious one, Guardiola would have Danilo, who primarily plays at the right-back position, and Fabian Delph, a central midfielder, as his only viable options.
