OFFICIAL: Raphael Varane Signs New Real Madrid Contract
Real Madrid defender Raphael Varane has officially signed a contract extension, which will see him remain at the Spanish capital for the next 5 years.
Rumours of the Frenchman’s extended stay got out not long ago, and as expected, Los Blancos have managed to reach an agreement with the player on a new deal. The defender has been consistently performing for the La Liga giants, and has managed to form a formidable partnership with Sergio Ramos.
Many news outlets had hinted at Varane’s possible Bernabeu exit, and potential reunion with former Real Madrid manager Jose Mourinho at Manchester United over the summer. However, the Frenchman has eventually decided to commit his future to the Galacticos following their recent success and his satisfaction at the club.
The news was announced first on Real’s official website on Wednesday, where it was revealed that the France international had signed a contract extension lasting up to 2022. The talented defender is scheduled to appear in front of a press conference at the Bernabeu on Thursday afternoon to comment on the recent deal.
The 24-year-old is set to enjoy another half a decade in Madrid under Zinedine Zidane, and is seemingly very happy with the Spanish giants.
