Adnan Januzaj Ruled Out For An ‘Indefinite Period’ Due To Knee Injury

Real Sociedad’s summer acquisition, Adnan Januzaj, will be out for an ‘indefinite period’ after having suffered an injury during the club’s Europa League clash.
The Belgian midfielder joined to the La Liga club for £8 million in the summer, after having spent unproductive loan spells away from Old Trafford with German giants Borussia Dortmund and English outfit Sunderland.
Januzaj made a switch to Spain in the hope of revamping his career, but the 22-year-old is already facing an injury lay-off after just four appearances for the Spanish side.
According to a statement issued by the club, Januzaj could be forced to the sidelines for an ‘indefinite period,’ after it was confirmed that the midfielder felt severe pain in his knee following Real’s 3-1 defeat to Zenit St. Petersburg in the Europa League this week.
The latest scans revealed an issue related to a ‘moderate articular effusion,’ and the Belgian youngster is now scheduled to undergo mild physiotherapy.
The official statement read: “Adnan Januzaj completed the match against Zenit St. Petersburg without any complaints or apparent trauma, but an hour later began feeling intense pain in his right knee.
“The MRI scan taken yesterday showed a moderate articular effusion, which may be relation to previous meniscus operation. The initial plan will be to rest and undergo mild physiotherapy. His return to action will be progressive and will depend on how his recovery improves.”
