What Dele Alli Said To Provoke Ashley Young

Dele Alli is alleged to have told Ashley Young to ‘retire with a zimmer frame’ during Manchester United’s 1-0 win over Tottenham Hotspur on Saturday.

The pair had a clash of heads at the 30-minute mark at Old Trafford, when Young went down holding his face after a challenge from Serge Aurier. Alli sought to give his fellow Englishman a piece of his own mind, but will have wished that he never got involved in the first place after hearing Young’s reply.

The United left-back hit back at the Tottenham midfielder, telling him not to be so disrespectful until he’d won a trophy.

Young is an FA Cup, League Cup, Europa League and Premier League champion, and according to M.E.N Sports, he walked away from the war of words by saying ‘Let me know when you’ve won the Prem’ to Alli.

Gary Neville, on the other hand, was quick to praise Alli for not getting too hyped up like he used to earlier in his career.

“Ashley Young knows exactly what he is doing and there might have been a time when Dele Alli would have reacted and thrown his head forward, but he hasn’t,” Neville said on commentary for Sky Sports. “His [Alli’s] heart would have been saying ‘I want to break your nose,’ his head would have been saying, ‘don’t lose the game for my team.”
