Manchester United are finally prepared to offload Luke Shaw for a £11.5 million loss in the winter transfer window. Newcastle United are one among the clubs who have the defender under their radar, and it has been the case for a while.

The St James’ Park outfit has reportedly inquired about the 22-year-old’s availability. However, they could be priced out by United’s demands, according to Daily Mail

The Red Devils are set to get rid of the ex-Saints man for a mere £20m, despite having hauled him from Southampton for £31.5m – a world-record fee for a teenager back in 2014.

According to the latest sources, if a transfer for the left-back fails to materialise as the transfer window advances, Rafa Benitez, who’s evidently desperate to secure a player who could take care of the left flank, will return with a loan offer.

Shaw’s reputation went down since the horrible leg injury he suffered in a Champions League game against PSV in September 2015. The advent of Mourinho further aggravated the issue.

He has made just 29 Premier League appearances for the club, and his only appearances this season were the two substitute outings in the Carabao Cup, with just 47 minutes of first-team football in total.

Mourinho has been reluctant in choosing Shaw owing to the fact that the defender is not able to showcase the skills the gaffer yearns for. The Portuguese tactician had proclaimed that the youngster needed to work and improve, or he would not be considered for selection.

Although multiple injuries brought him down the pecking order, the player still possesses enough talent to attract other clubs.

However, Shaw is keen to remain in England, and will only move if he receives the guarantee of first-team football. It’s now not far-fetched to expect him to get offloaded by the Old Trafford outfit in a few months.
