Manchester United are willing to let Henrikh Mkhitaryan leave if they receive an offer in the region of £35 million, according to the Daily Mail.

The Armenian has endured a topsy-turvy year-and-a-half at Old Trafford, having initially fallen out of favour, before forcing his way back into Jose Mourinho’s plans last season.

He began this season in magnificent form, picking up 5 assists and a goal in the opening rounds.

All of a sudden, though, he went off the boil and began to look like the player that was dropped for three whole months at the beginning of last season.

After a reported training ground bust-up with Jose Mourinho, who apparently singled the player out for criticism during a video analysis session, the 28-year-old has been excluded from the matchday squads for a number of weeks now.

The playmaker will finally make his return to action in the Carabao Cup, however, after Mourinho confirmed that he would start, but this appears to be make or break time for him now.

Around a month ago, the United boss was informed that he would only be able to make more signings in the January transfer window if he got rid of the fringe players in his squad.

While Mkhitaryan is very much an important player, the Portuguese tactician would not be afraid to move him on should the right price be offered, with a replacement lined up.

The 53-year-old hinted in his press conference leading up to the game that if any player of his squad wasn’t happy and wanted to move on, he would not stand in their way.

Mkhitaryan looks determined to fight for his place in the side, but if things don’t work out in his favour, he may be forced to call an end to his time at the Theatre of Dreams.

Inter Milan have already made their interest known, so it will be interesting to see where the Armenian international’s battle to prove himself ends up.
