Typical: Diego Costa Scores, Fights, And Gets Injured In Just 20 Mins On Atletico Debut
It was an adventurous night for Diego Costa, who marked his Atletico Madrid return with a goal in the Copa del Rey first-leg win at Lleida Esportiu.
Costa appeared from the bench in the 64th minute and scored just five minutes later for Diego Simeone’s men. He then went on to get an injury, but luckily for him, he soon returned from it.
The controversial forward was also involved in a scrap to show the zip he brings with him. It was a superb night for the Madrid club, as they brushed aside their opponents 4-0.
The former Chelsea player was sold back to Atletico in the summer, although he was not cleared to play until January.
On his return for the Spanish giants, he scored his side’s third goal on the night, with Diego Godin, Fernando Torres and Antoine Griezmann all being on the scoresheet in the last-16 tie.
Interestingly, his last goal for Atletico was against Chelsea in the Champions League encounter back in 2014. The Brazil-born player then moved to London for a reported £32m three years ago.
After enjoying a largely successful spell in London, where he won two Premier League titles, he was shipped out by manager Antonio Conte.
The Brazilian, who represents Spain in the national colours, now appears set to light up La Liga. With his vision for goals and physical prowess, he is the kind of asset that Atletico spent a huge sum of £57m to get back.
Prior to his return, he had scored 64 goals in 135 appearances for the club. Costa will now hope to build the success he had here, after having already won La Liga and Copa del Rey under Simeone.
