Manchester United Done With FOUR New Deals

Extending contracts will prove vital for the future of Manchester United, with a host of players either on the verge of leaving as free agents, or already contemplating moves away due to woes in their form and playing time.
As of such, the Red Devils have allegedly taken an important decision over the future of several such players.
According to Telegraph, United have extended the contracts of Juan Mata, Ander Herrera, Ashley Young, and Daley Blind until June of 2019. The source added that the players have received letters confirming the renewal.

Apart from securing the players to the club for an added year, the extensions will also double as a bolster for the asking prices of the quartet, should any clubs come knocking during the windows that will fall under the period to come.

The Red Devils had already triggered the 12-month option in Luke Shaw’s contract, which now runs until the end of the next season.
However, amongst the deals executed, the futures of Mata, Blind, and Shaw are less certain in terms of their long-term contribution to the functioning of the club.

Mata has been proving himself indispensable in recent weeks, so much of his potential can be utilized by the club in the year at hand. Besides that, his future will be heavily linked to how other players in his positions are able to develop and cope with the challenges posed to them.
Blind has been the subject of much transfer speculation over the weeks, with La Liga giants Barcelona and Real Madrid believed to be vying for his signature. As of such, the extension is a master move on part of the Red Devils to increase his value even further.
Shaw’s future, despite his recent return to playing days, is yet to see a considerable substance to it, as Mourinho might still be inclined to deploying a more developed world-class player at the spot.
All in all, these extensions cannot be viewed as merely the club trying to preserve talent, but must be seen with some scrutiny owing to the climate of the transfer window.
