The duo is lighting up the Italian league with a number of consistently stunning displays for their respective clubs, and it is no surprise that they are attracting a lot of interest from around Europe as a result.

Juventus and United, in particular, have been keen on the pair, and look the likeliest to go in for a move.

Jose Mourinho’s men are desperate to secure the services of a young midfielder, as almost all of their current crop of players are approaching the end of their careers.

Ander Herrera and Nemanja Matic are both in their late 20’s, Marouane Fellaini is set to leave the club, and Michael Carrick is set to retire at the end of the season. This leaves just Paul Pogba and Scott McTominay as players to build the future of the clubs midfield around.

Therefore, Mourinho is keen to add a quality midfielder to support Pogba, and could well end up signing Atlanta’s Cristante, with the player recently admitting that he is determined to play in the Premier League at some point in his career.

Speaking to Gazzetta dello Sport, he said: “So many people tell me: ‘The Premier League is the perfect place for you,’ and I agree with them. It’s physical, there’s a lot of tackling and open football. I can really see myself there.

“The Premier League was a dream then and it’s still a dream now, just as I hope it will be a reality in future, although I don’t know when. Everything has its right moment.”

Juventus have a number of quality players in their midfield set up, so they might not require him as much as United do, but that hasn’t put their interest off.

As for Milinkovic-Savic, he looks set to stay at Lazio for a little while longer. The Serbian wonderkid confirmed that he wants to stay with his current employers and develop even more before making the step up to a bigger club.

Juventus, United, and City have all still been linked to the in-demand starlet, but it appears as though their only chance of signing him would be to meet Lazio’s €85 million price tag, which might be far too much for a 22-year-old.
