Kevin De Bruyne Deal: How Man City Reacted To Sanchez Announcement
Social media was taken by storm on Monday evening, when Manchester United and Arsenal confirmed the swap transfer of Alexis Sanchez and Henrikh Mkhitaryan.
However, another major Premier League club didn’t wish to be left out of the fray either, and had a major announcement of their own to make.
At exactly 6 PM, the time when the Sanchez-Mkhitaryan announcement was made, Manchester City announced the contract extension given to their stellar player Kevin De Bruyne. The Belgian’s extension has penned him down to the club until 2023.

But what supporters found very curious about the move was the timing. It is generally the intention of any good PR team to make major announcements at points of the day that will receive maximum results from the target audience.
But this ploy by the SkyBlues certainly seemed like an attempt to steal the limelight from their more illustrious neighbors. But supporters of the Red Devils didn’t think it worked, and stormed to Twitter to call City out on their tactics.

Regardless of what they might feel, the news of De Bruyne’s extension has in fact made waves piggybacking on the bigger news of the transfers.
But what is of more intrigue is how the Cityzens knew that the announcement would be made precisely on Monday at that time. Luck, or just a shrewd understanding of how media moves work?
