Man United Superstar Asks To Leave Club After Sevilla Embarrassment

David De Gea has requested a transfer away from Manchester United in the summer following the club’s embarrassing elimination from the Champions League at the hands of Sevilla, according to reports.

Many had tipped United as favourites to win the tie following the 0-0 draw in Seville, but a shocking team selection from Jose Mourinho, followed by an equally dismal display from the players, led to a 2-1 humiliation at Old Trafford.

De Gea was far from his best – apparently paying heed to the pleas of the Sevilla twitter handler – and could arguably have done a lot better with both goals.

However, the 27-year-old is annoyed with his side’s lack of progress in the Champions League, and could site that as a reason for wanting to leave the club.

Real Madrid are currently the defending champions of the competition for the third season running, and their incredible record has not gone unnoticed by De Gea, who could now attempt to force a move through, according to Don Balon.

Los Blancos have been trying to sign United’s keeper for around three years to no real success, but are not ready to give up just yet.

Reports suggest the shot-stopper has already informed his agent Jorge Mendes to begin talks for a move to the Santiago Bernabeu.

However, Mourinho is unfazed by these rumours and is confident De Gea will stay on.

“I see him here,” Jose recently stated when asked about the speculation. “I don’t know what the intentions are of Real Madrid but they should think about another player.”
