David de Gea has reportedly asked Jose Mourinho to allow him to leave the club in the summer, according to reports.

The Spaniard has once again been linked with a switch to Real Madrid, and is willing to push for the move to go through.

Los Blancos are on the lookout for a replacement for Keylor Navas, who will turn 32 this year, and De Gea has been on their list for years now.

According to reports in Spanish media outlet Diario Gol, Real’s president Florentino Perez does not fancy Navas, and has been trying to find ways to force him out of the club.

He will attempt to do the same once more in the summer, as he prepares to have a massive overhaul of his ageing side and spend big in the summer. Hence, the constant links to the likes of De Gea and Chelsea’s Thibaut Courtois should come as no surprise.

Diario Gol also went on to claim that the Spaniard has had enough of life in England, and has asked Mourinho to allow him to return to his hometown.

Any deal between the two clubs is likely to see Navas swapped as well, but the United manager himself is working hard to strengthen his defense, and would prefer to have a younger, more agile shot-stopper amongst his ranks.

Retaining De Gea at the club is an absolute priority, and it may take a massive offer from the Spanish giants to convince United to sell.
