What Mourinho Said About Possibility Of Luke Shaw Playing Again Under Him

Jose Mourinho discussed a potential start for the out-of-favor left-back, Luke Shaw, after being quizzed about Paul Pogba, according to reports.

The Special One has developed a strained relationship with both Pogba and Shaw over the past months, and with the Red Devils set to take on Swansea City in the Premier League tomorrow, Mourinho was recently bombarded with questions about the pair.

The Portuguese tactician was asked to comment on Pogba’s blistering performance for the French national team that won 3-1 against Russia during the international break over the weekend.

The Frenchman scored a sumptuous free-kick and provided an assist for a Kylian Mbappe goal, but the former Chelsea boss ‘refused to praise the 25-year-old’.

“I don’t comment on my players’ performances in national teams,” Jose said.

In addition to that, certain reports had emerged in midweek, which claimed Mourinho had ‘talked’ to France manager Didier Deschamps about the ex-Juventus star.

But the Special One ridiculed all such claims, as he said: “Not true, I think the last time I spoke with Didier Deschamps was probably when we played against each other many years ago.”

Finally, he was questioned about Luke Shaw, primarily because of the fact that Ashley Young picked up a knee injury while on duty for the England national side. And the 54-year-old boss insisted that if Shaw’s fit to start, he’s ‘always an option’.

“If he’s available, Luke Shaw is always an option,” said Jose.

“Ashley Young was available to play against Brighton, so I started with Luke Shaw, so that’s not a problem. Young had a problem in the last part of the game against Italy. But we think there is a chance for him to recover.”
