United have had a series of brilliant goalkeeping talents over the years with their array containing some striking names who have mastered phenomenal saves.

While the continuously impressive appearances have ensured that David De Gea was able to cement the goalkeeper’s spot in the PFA team of the year this season – the only United player to do so – he isn’t the only stellar shot-stopper that the Red Devils boast of at the moment.

Apart from their reserve keepers, United have another young talent penned to them, and that could all change come summer should a Premier League rival elect to act upon an ending contract.

As per The Sun, Tottenham Hotspur are eager to sign Sam Johnstone in the coming season, should Michel Vorm depart at the end of this campaign, of which there is a strong possibility.

Johnstone, 25, is currently on loan at Aston Villa, his 7th temporary spell during an extended tenure at Old Trafford. His stellar performances have ensured that Villa might yet stage a promotion saga to remember.

If the side does secure a promotion, they are bound to offer the English starlet a new contract in view of the fact that his current deal with the Mancunian giants is set to expire at the end of this season.

However, Tottenham are a club that might capitalize on this instead, as Vorm’s impending departure would mean that they would be without an able keeper as a second choice.

Vorm, who is 34 years of age, is also under a contract that will expire in the summer, and it is understood that the Dutchman is tired of playing second fiddle to the talented Hugo Lloris. As of such, a keeper of Johnstone’s potential would be an apt choice at Spurs.

However, the question remains whether or not the player himself will be interested in staying on the bench as Lloris plays, or whether he’d prefer to play regularly at a smaller side.
