Jonny Evans Agrees Move To Join Leicester City

Former Manchester United defender Jonny Evans is keen to stay in the Premier League after facing relegation with West Bromwich Albion this season.

Last year, Jonny Evans was linked with a surprise move to Manchester City and Arsenal. But the duo failed to come to an agreement with WBA and the deals eventually broke down.

The Northern Irish defender ended up staying put at the Hawthorns, but he failed to save his club from relegation this season.

Evans started out his footballing career at the Manchester United academy in 2004. He made it into the first team in 2006 but never reached his full potential.

After 198 appearances in 9 seasons with the Red Devils, he was sold by Louis van Gaal in 2015. The Baggies paid £6 million for the defender, and he has been in sublime form since.

The 30-year-old has been one of their best players in the past three seasons, making 95 appearances in the period. Former boss Tony Pulis even handed him the captain’s armband, but failure to stay in the PL has forced Evans to look at other options this summer.

According to latest reports from Sky Sports, Leicester City have now managed to secure his services after meeting his relegation release clause.

The Foxes have agreed to pay £3.5 million over the next two seasons. Evans is understood to have accepted to personal terms and will undergo a medical tomorrow.

Claude Puel is a fan of the defender, and intends to bring Evans in after having released Robert Huth over the past week. Moreover, club captain Wes Morgan is 34, and therefore unlikely to start every week.

The former Southampton boss is looking to freshen up his defense this summer, and Jonny Evans has the experience to fire Leicester to great heights next season.
