REVEALED: 3 Defenders United Will Target If They Fail To Sign Toby Alderweireld
Manchester United are keen to add Toby Alderweireld to their defensive ranks this summer, but Tottenham are asking in excess of £55 million, which is too high for the Red Devils.
Jose Mourinho had a great start to the summer transfer window, as he sealed the deals for Fred and Diogo Dalot in the space of three days. The United boss is now looking to sign a central defender before the start of next season.
Alderweireld is at the top of his shortlist, and United have already approached the Londoners over a possible summer transfer.

The Reds have submitted a £55 million bid in recent weeks, but Spurs president Daniel Levy is asking for at least £75 million – the same amount Liverpool paid for Virgil van Dijk back in January.
The United officials consider this valuation outrageous, which is why they would prefer to hold out at the moment and snap him up for £25 million next summer. However, Mourinho remains adamant on signing a center-back this summer.

The Mancunian giants have been looking elsewhere, and have set their eyes on some players.
Sevilla’s Clement Lenglet is said to be one of the options after his impressive performances in the Champions League. Sources at ESPN claim that the youngster will cost much lesser that Alderweireld.

Mourinho is also looking at the possibility of signing Raphael Varane or Jerome Boateng. The Portuguese is a fan of the Real Madrid defender. Since his arrival at Old Trafford, Jose has made multiple attempts to sign the Frenchman, but Los Blancos aren’t willing to sell him.
Bayern Munich’s Boateng is also a great option for United. The 29-year-old defender’s future has been a matter of speculation in Germany over the past weeks.
Mourinho is prepared in case he misses out of Alderweireld this summer. But United are still likely to find a breakthrough in the deal involving the Belgian, as Spurs are reportedly eyeing a move for Anthony Martial.
