Bournemouth 1-2 Manchester United: Player Ratings
Manchester United needed an injury time goal to survive a scare and beat Bournemouth 2-1.
After a dominating first 30 minutes, the Cherries opened the scoring through Callum Wilson due to a horrendous piece of defending from United. Anthony Martial scored once again to equalise for the Mancunian club in the 35th minute.
United could have easily had some goals in the 2nd half, but were poor with their finishing. Same goes for Bournemouth too, who could have had their shares of goals as well. In the end, the visitors somehow sealed the tie.
Here are the player ratings for the away side:
David de Gea: 7
Made some outstanding saves yet again. Couldn’t have done much for the goal conceded.
Ashley Young: 5
Most of the threat came from his side in the first half. He played a key role in setting up Sanchez for the assist, and also struck the post from a free-kick.
Chris Smalling: 4
Was shaky and confused to start with. Had a slightly better 2nd half.

Victor Lindelof: 4
Like Smalling, the Swede looked out of sync. Showed some composure as the match progressed.
Luke Shaw: 2
Almost gave away a penalty, but was lucky not to. Should have scored as well, after being one-on-one with the keeper.
Nemanja Matic: 2
Had a disastrous show and gave away the ball easily. Didn’t provide the shield today.
Paul Pogba: 5
Was anonymous in the first half, and started shakily in the 2nd as well. Made the all important assist for Rashford in the end.
Fred: 2
Lucky to have survived for 50+ minutes on the pitch. Was casual and hapless.
Alexis Sanchez: 5
Was horrible in the first half hour. Made some parity with the assist. Had a better 2nd half.

Anthony Martial: 7
Scored a beautiful goal with some sound movement. Was the only attacking player that showed some intent.
Juan Mata: 2
Abysmal from the Spaniard. Was culpable for the opening goal and never had any impact when on the ball.
SUBSTITUTIONS –
Marcus Rashford: 6
Should have scored from the rebound off the post, but somehow missed it. But got the winner in injury time to make up for it.
Ander Herrera: 6
Took two sublime shots, but missed the target. Added composure in midfield.
Jesse Lingard: 1
Had a shot on goal blocked after a tame shot straight to Begovic.
