Romelu Lukaku presently fits an unfortunate list of characteristics. A favorite of Jose Mourinho at Manchester United and a generally slow player who has to be fed the ball in order to play at his best, the Belgian is not the ideal Ole Gunnar Solskjaer forward.

Besides, judging by how he hasn’t been able to make a solid impact in recent games, he may not fit into the plans of whomever United decide to hire on a full-time basis come summer.

While promising substitute showings with goals being scored held some hope for supporters, it increasingly seems that his tryst with the Mancunian giants is drawing to an end.

Now, according to the Mirror, United are willing to sell the former Everton player. Primarily, his impact could come through functioning as a deal sweetener for some of the club’s more big-name pursuits.

In particular, Manchester United appear quite interested in signing anyone amongst Paulo Dybala and Mauro Icardi. Both talents are allegedly in the midst of fallouts with their clubs, putting a side like United in prime position to swoop in.

Further, the report claims that Lukaku would be open to a move to Juventus, given their prolificacy at winning titles. This could play into the Mancunian club landing Dybala, although any move would be an enormous transfer in the making.

Moreover, Icardi’s transfer is also of a nature wherein Inter are open to landing Lukaku as part of the bargain, while the Belgian’s stance on the move is unclear.

All in all, it appears that the striker has made peace with the fact that he may not have a massive and regular role to play at Old Trafford anymore, and thus, could move on in the summer.

If United land a mobile striker with the skillsets of any of these youngsters, much can be achieved by them going forward. Then again, their defensive woes still remain to be addressed.
