Manchester United and Napoli are set to go head-to-head for Spurs’ Kieran Trippier.

The England international has been heavily impressive for both club and country in recent months, with his performances having caught the eyes of multiple top clubs around Europe.

According to trusted Italian journalist Gianluca Di Marzio, Serie A outfit Napoli has now entered the fray, identifying the Tottenham Hotspur full-back as a potential summer target.

With Elseid Hysaj expected to depart from the Naples-based club at the end of the season, Trippier could be brought in as a readymade replacement.

However, Napoli will face stern competition for the player’s signature from English giants Manchester United, who are also on the lookout for a new first-choice right-back.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer intends to bring in at least two experienced defenders, and 28-year-old Trippier fits the Norwegian’s requirements perfectly.

The Man City youth academy graduate has made 33 appearances for Spurs in all competitions this season, whilst having represented England on 13 occasions.

His current deal with the North London club is set to expire in 2022. Despite all the interest in his services, however, talks regarding an improved contract are nowhere in sight, as Tottenham currently want their entire focus to be on their remarkable Champions League campaign.
