Juan Mata Reveals How Players Reacted In The Dressing Room Post Chelsea Draw
Juan Mata admits his teammates were left “disappointed” after the draw against Chelsea.
With Tottenham and Arsenal suffering defeats in their respective games, both Chelsea and Manchester United needed to win the major clash on Sunday to capitalise in the race for the top 4 spots.
However, the game at Old Trafford ended in a 1-1 draw, with both teams sharing the spoils, and the one point not helping either team too much.
The home side started the game splendidly, with former Chelsea playmaker and birthday-boy Juan Mata giving the Red Devils the lead early in the match.

The Blues later bagged the equalizer through Marcos Alonso, who found the back of the net from a difficult angle after pouncing on David De Gea’s spilled save.
The result was more disappointing for United, who were far better than the visitors at the start of the game, and desperately needed a win to go level on points with Maurizio Sarri’s side.

Juan Mata shed some light on the mood in the dressing room after the full-time whistle, as he told Sky Sports: “We are disappointed. We wanted to win, we needed to win, so we are disappointed. I think we did a good first half, we scored, we had other good chances.
“It is difficult when you have the top four so close and then you have done an incredible job over the last months to get there. We will try until the end, but obviously we needed to win today, because Chelsea is fighting with us for the position.
“That’s how we should start every game at home especially. We put the other team in trouble and we did very well in the first half today especially.”
