Matthijs De Ligt Reveals When He’ll Decide His Next Club

The Matthijs de Ligt to Manchester United saga has sent supporters of the Red Devils into dizzying heights of hope. Less than two weeks ago the saga was believed to be all but dead with it seeming certain that the Dutch defender was headed to Barcelona.

The more damning news for United fans was an allegation that the 19-year-old didn’t deem Old Trafford fit for his ambitions of becoming the best defender in Europe.

However, since then a lot has occurred. The Barca deal hit a dead wall when the Spanish giants presumably refused to pay out a rather large brokerage fee that de Ligt’s agent Mino Raiola demanded.

This led to United coming back into the fray and putting forth a financially superior offer. Details that were circulated about this apparent deal included wage packages that would see the starlet become one of the highest paid players in the Premier League.

ESPN were finally able to get in a word with the youngster himself and he revealed important details.

De Ligt stated: “Where do I see myself? Well, obviously the Premier League is a big competition, Spain also. But you have other competitions. It’s not just about these two.”

This is more or less in line with what he had said in 2018. However, what he went on to say may have an interesting effect on hoping fans.

“I still don’t know anything about where my future is, so I see how it goes. First we have to play two games and then after that I will see what happens next.”

The ‘two games’ in question are international encounters for the Dutch team against England and Germany, including Euro League qualifiers. The second of these games is on the 9^th of June which means this saga will be extended until then, at a bare minimum.
