Romelu Lukaku is a player who has had a mixed time at Old Trafford. When Manchester United first secured him from Everton, the Red Devils had hoped that the Belgian would solve their goalscoring woes.

His inaugural season did appear to fulfill just that, as he netted 21 goals in all competitions and seemed to have a fairly decent season save for a worrying goal drought.

However, his second season was riddled with numerous droughts and he managed merely 14 goals, severely lacking in consistency.

A contributing factor was that Ole Gunnar Solskjaer preferred to field Marcus Rashford over Lukaku. Now, the Belgian is expected to depart in the summer and the Red Devils may have identified his replacement.

As per ESPN, if United sell Lukaku, they are sizing up Eintracht Frankfurt striker Sebastien Haller as a possible replacement. The report stresses that the club isn’t actively looking to sell Lukaku, but are instead acting on alleged interest from Inter Milan.

The Italian side recently appointed Antonio Conte as their manager and the Belgian has long been a favored target of the gaffer. While Conte is believed to have shown interest in the striker, the Red Devils will only sell him if the Serie A club meet their asking price of £80 million.

Meanwhile, Haller has been a consistent performer for the Bundesliga club and has shown a penchant for scoring goals, netting 20 goals and creating 12 more during the entirety of last season. United apparently sent scouts to monitor him during the side’s Europa League run.

However, it is unclear whether the club will wish to sell him this summer. On Tuesday, they lost their main striker Luka Jovic to Real Madrid and may not be inclined on shipping off Haller as well. There is also alleged interest from other sides in Germany.
