Manchester United Confident Of Signing Sean Longstaff

Manchester United are confident of signing Newcastle midfielder Sean Longstaff.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer intends to build on the £15m signing of Daniel James from Swansea City by aiming to finalise the £25m transfer of Sean Longstaff.

Earlier this month, the 21-year-old pledged his future to Newcastle United in an interview.

Further, a lot of uncertainty surrounds the club, with the future of manager Rafa Benitez up in the air, and a takeover looking imminent.

Despite these factors, however, the Mirror suggests that the Red Devils are quite confident of pulling this transfer off.

Longstaff made 11 successive starts under Benitez last season, before a knee ligament injury ruled him out for the rest of the campaign.

Nonetheless, Solskjaer and his scouts appear to have seen enough of the young starlet in those limited appearances, and they believe the Englishman will be an apt addition to their squad.

Apart from Longstaff, Manchester United remain in pursuit of other young talents as well, with the likes of Matthijs De Ligt and Aaron Wan-Bissaka on their radar.
