Man United Readying Bid For West Ham Centre-Back Issa Diop
Defensive pursuits have been on the quieter end for Manchester United. After securing Aaron Wan-Bissaka, reports have claimed the club to be more in contact with midfield talents like Sean Longstaff and Bruno Fernandes rather than the crucial centre-back spots.
As of recent, however, a few speculations are suggesting that the club does have a shortlist of defenders to pursue.
What makes this intriguing is that Ole Gunnar Solskjaer wants as full a roster as possible to travel in the pre-season tour. As of such, the lack of centre-back news in the past few days has been quite surprising.
However, that may change in the coming days.

As per L’Equipe, United are readying a bid for Issa Diop which will be launched in the coming days. The West Ham centre-back has been on United’s radar for a while now but there were mixed reports as to the full extent of the activity that surrounded the club’s interest.
The report stresses that the Hammers do not wish to sell the 22-year-old Frenchman but that they will entertain an offer from the Red Devils. A similar stance appears to be held by the player himself who will monitor the developments closely.

It is speculated that a bid around the range of €50 million will be required to even start the negotiations. Considering the prices that were assigned to the likes of Matthijs de Ligt and Kalidou Koulibaly, United may pounce on this offer.
While Diop certainly isn’t at the level of the aforementioned defenders, his Premier League experience will be valuable as West Ham have slowly emerged as amongst the more competitive teams in England.
In style, he is quite adept at tackling and seems to have an aggressive mentality at the back, akin to Eric Bailly. How will United treat his transfer?
