What Happened Between Solskjaer And Lukaku Before His Transfer To Inter

Social media activity has often proven to be the straw that broke the camel’s back. With tensions predictably riled up between players and management at most outfits, particularly during the transfer window, it is evident that some sparks will fly.

However, it appears that the Romelu Lukaku exit from Manchester United isn’t as amicable as some may paint it to be.

The Belgian striker has wished for an exit from a long time now, particularly when it became obvious that he wouldn’t be the first choice striker at Old Trafford.

On deadline day, Lukaku sealed a transfer to Serie A side Inter Milan, bringing to a close a long and grueling saga. However, things didn’t end on a good note between the player and the club.

According to the Times, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer lashed out at Lukaku for one action of his in particular. During his final days at the Mancunian outfit, Lukaku leaked highly confidential training data showcasing the speeds of him and his teammates on Twitter.

The move was supposedly done as a jibe from the striker to show that he wasn’t as slow and lethargic as his critiques were painting him out to be.

However, it had the added effect of fans criticizing Luke Shaw as the data, which has since been removed from the striker’s profile, also portrayed the left-back to be much slower than expected.

The Norwegian gaffer took great offense to this repercussion in particular and allegedly lashed out at the striker in a ‘brutal verbal’ manner for not only leaking such information but also in putting the reputation of a teammate on the line.

Lukaku has since been labeled quite ‘unprofessional’ for his demeanor during the entire saga.

In his pre-game press conference ahead of the weekend’s clash against Chelsea, Solskjaer had this to say about the situation: “I have always had a good relationship with Rom, open and honest, we’ve spoken to each other openly and frankly and have no issue between me and Rom but we are now obviously, who’s here, we’re very happy with them.”
