Managers in the modern game are more and more likely to face the brunt of the anger of supporters as well as the consequences when things go awry. The nature of the times is such that even top performances cannot assure jobs for gaffers as the goals set forth by their respective boards is often unattainable.

While it goes without saying that most managers would prefer handling the affairs of the biggest clubs in the world in the best leagues, it is often there that the responsibilities and expectations swiftly transform into burdens.

That appears to be what got to Jose Mourinho towards the end of his time at Manchester United.

The ‘Special One’ appeared to have had everything under control at Old Trafford until suddenly he didn’t and found himself out of a job.

Now, in a recent interview an emotional Mourinho opens up about life since last December: “The first moment I went into professional football I felt a click. Since then it’s been serious stuff. It’s been serious stuff until now. Non-stop. Now that it’s stopped, instead of enjoying it, I can’t really enjoy it, I miss it.”

The Portuguese tactician appears to be on the verge of breaking down while uttering these words. It is evidently not easy to be removed from all the action when one has made a knack of serving big outfits.

Since the sacking, Mourinho has been linked to a host of gigs but none materialized.

At the moment, his professional expertise on the game is being made use of as a pundit for Sky Sports.

The former gaffer’s inputs have been one that football fans across the globe have really appreciated and several of his comments and inputs on the Premier League have gone viral since last week.

Will we see the maestro on the touchline as a gaffer ever again?
