Serie A Club Agree Deal With Man United To Sign Matteo Darmian

As the European transfer window inches closer and closer towards its deadline day, the clubs of the Premier League can only wait and watch and hope that the players they truly treasure don’t depart all too easily.

On the other hand, these sides are also likely to be eager to offload those players that are deemed surplus to requirements.

Manchester United certainly appear to be one such club. As many as three players are currently in the news for departures, which include a combination of loan moves as well as permanent deals.

As per Sky Sports, Matteo Darmian has agreed to a deal to join Serie A club Parma.

The Italian defender has been departure-bound for months now, and top brass names from his nation had done the rounds for his signature.

However, this fresh claim indicates that Parma have acquired him and that the 29-year-old is all set to sign a two-year-long deal with an option to extend for a further year.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer confirmed as much at a press conference by stating: “I can see maybe Matteo [leaving]. There has been some interest in Matteo over in Italy, wanting to go back home.”

Darmian was amongst the Louis Van Gaal era signings that simply didn’t age well at Old Trafford. The transfer spree that the Dutchman oversaw alongside Ed Woodward was once hailed to be a radical approach but akin to the defender, many of the players acquired then simply didn’t deliver the kind of success United badly required.
